Ways to Reward Employees (without involve monetary aspect)

Hi guys,

Monetary rewards definitely the most wanted elements for an employee regardless to its job scope. However, monetary or cash rewards has been proven to be a short-term booster for employees, thus save yours and may try one of these which acts more meaningful (and less expensive) ways to show them you care about them.

Cash perceived as short term booster

Here are some of the ideas to show; “I appreciate all of your hard work and dedication” -

  1. Thank you note. An authentic thank you note helps to motivate employees that you recognize their efforts and appreciate their work. You may say thank you on something specific in their achievement, it may turn to be the ultimate reward.
  2. Flexible hours. Giving flexible hours within time frame doesn’t cost anything to the business owners. Let say if previously they had to come to workplace at sharp 8am now you may alternate the time 9 to 10am that they must be in office for example. This would help to improve work quality as well as they able to schedule their works within the flex hours.
  3. Birthday shout out. Make an announcement along with poster of their to wish birthday and celebrate it. This will help to increase the sense of belongings of employees towards the organization and they will work more attentively.

4. Recognition seal. You may come out with a formal letter by recognizing your employee’s attainment. The head of department or chief of the organization may sign it and use company’s seal to make more meaningful and even may add frame on it to let them hang at work desk.

5. Cake. Celebration is incomplete without a yummy cake, so for any achievement or celebration you may let the employees or team to cut a cake. It will makes them happy.

6. Set up an office. You may set up one amazing and impressive office in your work building inclusive of air conditioner and coffee maker (if available). So each month you recognize a staff to stay at the office for an entire month, upon their achievement. It should be in practice by rotation.

7. Chair massage. You may collaborate with spa or any nearest massage center to have a voucher of chair massage, so that your recognized employees of the month may have a free chair massage.

8. Movie time. Give employees of the month a pair of movie tickets of their choice and off time to go watch the movie during workday. It made their day and absolutely will back with more happiness to ‘give back’ to the company.

9. Flowers. Who don’t like a surprise? The all-time classic method of recognition and celebration definitely boosts employees. You may bring a flower bouquet and added on a handwritten appreciation as an personal touch to the bouquet to show of that you recognize their work.

10. Dinner with Boss. I believe this was in practice by many companies, food party is part of the celebration. Yet, you may make it more interesting by invite the employees of the month or upon the team achievement to have a dinner with the boss. Take the employees and their family to a nice restaurant of their choice from a list you provide.
