A short view on WORKFORCE DIVERSITY.
Generally diversity refers as a variation / diversification / heterogeneity or in a simple term of differences. It’s includes the uniqueness of each of an individual possess, that encompass different personal characteristics, cultural values, beliefs systems, and also organizational roles in an work setting.
In current working environment especially, it goes beyond gender, race and skin tone, it includes sorts of differences that matter to you, your peers, colleagues, customers, employees and even stakeholders.
Diversity might sounds simple and easy , but it confined many layers and groups of differences (gender, race, religion, physical ability, languages, personality, thoughts, cognitive style, geographical location, educational background, seniority, organizational function and more). Diversity can even be on how different people learn, how they communicate either verbal / non-verbal (sign language), and simultaneously how they perceive a problem or on issue arises. Moreover, diversification also enhances how a person may handle conflicts and solving problems.
Further, diversity in workplace is focus on connecting people from a set of differences and similarities. In a workplace setting, those perceptions attentively affects employees interactions in their conversations and tasks.
The key point is about ACCEPTANCE & RESPECT. We need to embrace the differences and celebrate the similarities. If you’re able to accept and respect yourself that have thousands of thoughts and perception, that’s how you need to accept and respect the reality of how other people may have in their very own point of view. Diversity is defining the differences we all have. Thus, we need to maintain positive perception and be open-minded to have a right-thinking towards social interaction in workplace.
